Processing stays in the browser

Pasted text and selected files are read by browser APIs. Conversion runs locally in the page, and the generated YAML is downloaded from a temporary browser object URL.

The current implementation does not send conversion content to jsontoyaml.org servers.

What conversion preserves

Objects, arrays, strings, numbers, booleans, and null values are preserved. Formatting such as JSON whitespace is not data and is replaced with readable YAML formatting.

Limits to understand

Input must be valid JSON. Browser memory limits still apply, and very large documents can slow or stop the page. Always review generated configuration before production use.

Questions about this topic

Are files uploaded to a server?+

No. In the current version, the selected file is read and converted in your browser.

Is input retained after I close the page?+

The site does not intentionally persist conversion content. Your browser or device may still retain clipboard, download, or session data under its own controls.
